The Taxes and Accounting newspaper is one of the most popular professional periodicals for accountants, chief financial officers, auditors and entrepreneurs in Ukraine. It's in two languages: Russian and Ukrainian and distributed all over the country.

Screen Interactive developed the new version of The Taxes and Accounting website.

Design

The website layout resembles centerfold of a periodical. Since the site is a Web supplement for a printed version of the newspaper, we used its visual identity and corporate character. Consequently, regular readers feel comfortable and confident while browsing through the website.

Content

• Issues archive. A catalog with all publications since 2007 (hundreds of newspaper issues every year) is available on the website. The list of documents published in each issue is also in the catalog. The contents directory of every newly published newspaper issue becomes available as soon as the printed version is available.
• Documents search. Users can search all the documents published in the newspaper for every year (several thousand publications). Search by category, document type, author or institution, document number or issue number. For the majority of documents full text versions are not available on the site. Users mostly can see short annotations, with the newspaper's issue number. This tool helps users to find a particular publication in a personal, printed issues archive.
• Golden fund. This is a section with the full texts of some of the best articles published in the newspaper.
• News. Along with publishing the newspaper, editors regularly inform users about events in accounting and taxing. Subscribers receive newsletters every day.
• Additional information is also available: hundreds of documents, statistic data and accounting forms, which bookkeepers use every day.

Functionality

Two custom modules—We developed an Issues archive and Documents Search especially for the newspaper’s website. These features not only allow displaying information on the site and managing it from the back-end, but we also integrated them with corporate publishing software.

Using a subscription module, users can subscribe for a number of periodicals Factor Publishing offers. The variety of publications, prices and available subscription terms depend on the type of subscription, shipping region, current date and other parameters used in the subscription module. When a user chooses certain types of subscriptions, he can print the automatically generated invoice or a bank payment ticket right after placing an order.

The website uses an updated content management system ScreenJet. Besides the basic features the following functionality is on the website:

• News module. It allows preparing news for publication, managing the news stream and news archive on the site.
• Registration. Authorized users get excess to a newsletter subscription and some additional website sections.
• Subscriptions module. Used to send newsletters to subscribers, manage the list of subscribers and create unlimited number of newsletters. Users also can change their subscriptions.
• Files repository. Users can manage files through a special back-end interface. Links to files are easy to add on any website page or attached to a newsletter.
• Polls. The polls builder allows using different types of questions.
• Internal banner system.
• Search module. Full-text search with the support of Russian and English morphology.
• Two languages. The website has two full language versions: Russian and Ukrainian.

The ScreenJet content management system also allows editorial stuff filling the website with content on its own.
